Broadcasting Concepts, Theory and Practice

Broadcasting Concepts, Theory and Practice gives a technical and functional overview of broadcasting facilities.
The limitations of various methods of transmission, such as terrestrial analogue and digital transmission, satellite transmission, and internet streaming are analysed, The prevalence of, and practices surrounding, these methods of transmission are discussed.
The concept of mass communication, via broadcasting, are placed in social context. Broadcasting policy, codes of practice governing stations, roles and responsibilities of key personnel, and issues concerning freedom of speech, public responsibility and fair practice are discussed.
A significant part of the course will consist of visits to working broadcast environments in radio and TV broadcast settings.
