Broadcasting Infrastructure

This course builds on the foundation laid in 271 Broadcasting Theory and Practice and 272 Broadcast Equipment and Application, and examines the use of previously introduced equipment in specialist Radio and TV broadcast environments. The interaction and interconnection of these environments is described. The environments discussed will range well beyond the audio-specific areas such as Radio Production studios and Final Mix studios, to encompass diverse areas such as:
Outside Broadcasts (OBs)
FCC
Galleries,
Multiple-channel control rooms,
International Feed centres,
Transfer areas, and ingest to server,
Quality Control areas.

The architecture of the on-air studio is analysed with regard to the layout of equipment.

This course places existing equipment knowledge and understanding into specific contexts in the broadcast field. To that end a significant number of site visits will be undertaken.
